Betsy Farms Jerky Treats For Dogs

Disclosure:  The opinions in this article are my own.  I do not work for, or with, any brand mentioned in this article, nor do I have any official relationship with them.  I have a relationship with GigaSavvy, for whom I create original editorial content.

We stopped buying dog treats in stores for a while because of all the recalls and danger some of them caused that were made in China.  I don't believe we bought any of those made in China, but over the years it may have been possible.  We gradually started to buy treats again, but read the labels first and made sure that none of them were made or shipped from China.

Just recently Nellie and Dixie got a package in the mail (which Nellie was TOO anxious to open since she could smell something good in the box), containing two bags of Betsy Farms natural jerky treats.  One bag was duck and the other was turkey flavor.  Both are resealable, making it easy to open and close and keep the treats fresh.

I started with the duck jerky first and was pleasantly surprised to find that both are NOT tough at all.  If they were, I would not give it to Nellie because as a senior dog, she has a terrible time trying to eat anything like that.  Her teeth are little stubs now from all the chewing she has done over the years.  I could actually break the jerky pieces in half and give it to her.  There was no preference in which flavor they liked better.  Both Dixie and Nellie ate these so fast I hardly had time to snap any photos of them.

Both dogs liked these so much that Nellie tries to grab the bag to snag some all the time (as you can see in the second photo above) and Dixie will actually come inside (she spends most of her time outside, running around, playing.. and not listening)!  I tried to hold the treat so I could get a photo of Dixie before she ran off and this is what I got... her eating off little pieces at a time.

Now, the things I like about these jerky treats is that they are made in the U.S. of ingredients from the U.S. and there is NO artificial colors or flavors added.  In fact, the ingredients include (for the duck jerky to be exact):  Duck, Barley, Tapioca, Pea Protein, Corn Protein Concentrate, Duck Liver, Vegetable Glycerin, Dried Whey, Potassium Sorbate (preservative), Salt, Lactic Acid, Hickory Smoke Flavor, Caramel Color Mixed Tocopherols (preservative), Rosemary Extract.

The suggested feeding guide is:
Recommended daily feeding based on your dog's weight:

5 to 10 lbs         1 piece
11 to 25 lbs         2 pieces
26 to 50 lbs         3 pieces
Over 50 lbs         4 pieces

These jerky treats can be purchased at Walmart, Sam's Club, Albertsons, Anda, Menard's, and I found them on Amazon.  They come in 12, 24, and 40 ounce sizes and retail for about $13 and up depending on size and where purchased.  You can find out more about Betsy Farms and their products online:, and find them on Twitter @BetsyFarms, and on Facebook /betsyfarms.
