One chore I do not like to do is give our two furry babies a bath. I have to lift them into the tub, which is always a hassle because they push with their feet, and they are each over 50 lbs. It would be so nice to have a walk-in shower for them! It still wouldn't make them happy to get cleaned, but it would be much easier on me.
Around this time of the year they start shedding and sometimes get dry skin. Hearing them dig because their skin itches isn't something I want to hear. Most of the time I use vinegar after their bath, which seems to do the trick, but not always. Since Nellie has a thyroid problem, she gets flaky, dry skin much more than Dixie does.
So we have been using derma e's new Scalp Relief shampoo and conditioner. It is supposed to help with irritated skin and reduce flaking (on both humans and animals). I noticed that both dogs were very interested in smelling the shampoo. It cleans very well and has a cool feeling when using - because of the tea tree and menthol. The conditioner added a little moisture and didn't weigh down the hair. They have been flake free since using and only seem to be itching when bugs are attacking.
I used the combo on myself too, so I could see how it worked. As mentioned above, the shampoo provides a cooling sensation while using and didn't leave my hair feeling stripped, but clean. The conditioner worked fine, without feeling like my hair was loaded with product. I liked these products, both for the dogs and myself.
Both of these retail for $11.75 each for a 8 fl. oz. tube. The shampoo was very thin, so a little more than I liked came out when I was dispensing. Another thing to note is that these products are sulfate and paraben free and 100% vegan! Find out more at the derma e website.
